The development of the cutting tool industry also requires "national will"

Starting from 2004, the Industrial Department of the National Development and Reform Commission and the China Machine Tool Industry Association began to formulate the "Special Plan for the Development of CNC Machine Tools". On September 28, 2005, the State Council passed the "Several Opinions on Accelerating the Revitalization of the Equipment Manufacturing Industry", which prioritized the development of CNC machine tools. On February 9, 2006, the State Council issued the "Outline of the National Medium - and Long Term Science and Technology Development Plan (2006-2020)", which listed advanced manufacturing as a key priority area, and high-end CNC machine tools and basic manufacturing technology were included in one of the 16 major special projects. Recently, Zeng Peiyan, Vice Premier of the State Council, when talking about Several Opinions on Accelerating the Revitalization of the Equipment Manufacturing Industry, emphasized that the revitalization of the equipment manufacturing industry "should reflect the national will". As mentioned above, we have indeed seen the "national will" of the country in accelerating the development of CNC machine tools, and various policies and measures have indeed filled people with hope for the development of the CNC machine tool industry. However, building a strong manufacturing country not only requires CNC machine tools, but also advanced cutting tools, both of which are equally important. The government's policy support and investment in the development of CNC machine tools are gratifying. But if we don't seize this opportunity to rapidly develop cutting tools and cutting technology, then I'm afraid the progress of CNC machine tools will still be constrained by cutting tools in the future. After all, in the mechanical processing process, the tool that truly has a direct impact on the processed object is the cutting tool. The cutting tool and cutting technology affect the performance and realization of machine tool functions. Even high-end machine tools and equipment without advanced cutting tools and cutting technology may not be able to achieve the dream of manufacturing a strong country.
